FINAL REFLECTION

MY ENGLISH PROGRESS FROM 4TH ESO TO 2BAT

The first composition I wrote in 4th of ESO was one called MY DREAM, and one of the compositions I wrote this third term is the VICIOUS CIRCLE one.

In the first composition the content was a little bit immature, but good for the age of 15, the structure is simple and short, not very elaborated and the arguments are simple, from linguistic and maturity point of view. Compared to the first composition, the Vicious Circle one is pretty good structured with maturity enough for a 17-year-old girl. There is a good use of the connectors to make the composition look more "professional".
Obviously my vocabulary has improved since 4th of ESO, as I've learned many new words, expressions, phrasal verbs, etcetera. That's a way to have more "maturity" in compositions, that's why this year's compositions look more mature.

I don't have any video of an oral presentation from 4th of ESO, but I can remember I made one or two with Míriam and Sandra. My accent was not an English accent but it could be understood. I always felt so nervous talking in front of the class and read what was on my paper, because nerves made me forget what I had to say. The structure was good, as I didn't make it on my own but with two other people. The arguments were simple, as the ones in my compositions, and the linguistic of them were good because, as I've said before, we used the dictionary to make our arguments sound better.
The last oral presentation I've made (this year) is the RESEARCH PAPER ORAL PRESENTATION, which I wasn't able to publish when I had to. In the research paper presentation I remember to be nervous, but I hadn't got to read any paper, because it was a week or two after the real presentation (in Catalan) and I remembered all I had to say word by word; and it was a work I had been doing for so long, so I knew what to say. The arguments were good structured as the presentation, and even feeling nervous I thing it sounded pretty good. Obviously there was maturity in the content, as it was a research paper, and the linguistic arguments were good to.
My fluency has evolved in two years, as now I practice more English talking with my friends and working on summer. The pronunciation has also evolved, as practicing makes you improve.

MY ENGLISH COMPETENCE IN 2016

My best oral production has to be the Research Paper one, as it was the one I knew more, I worked on more and the one I loved to do. I can't link my research paper oral presentation because I really don't know where the video is.
The main reason I think it is my best oral work is because I was happy to talk about something I liked and knew about, because other oral presentations were more simple and not as interesting as this one. I think everybody liked to do this presentation as they knew it was going to be easy to talk for 5 minutes of something you really know about.

My best writing production has to be the SLAVES? composition. Maybe it's not the longest one, or the one with better vocabulary and expressions; but it was a composition I loved to write. I loved it because I could express what I thought about our nowadays system and relate it to what we were doing. I got really inspired when I read the question Do you want to be forever young? I just started thinking and the words came out of me automatically.
I also used a good vocabulary and think the structure is good for what I was trying to say. The arguments are simple but clear, and linguistically talking they are good structured and with appropriate vocabulary.

AN E-MAIL TO THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in order to complain about the application of some human rights in a few countries. Basic rights such as education and health, that should be garanteed are being violated in countries like Syria.
Since the war broke out five years ago, chiltren are not able to go to schools or hospitals or have the basic education they need for themselves.

As the Human Rights Committee, you should act in front of that kind of injustice, yet I know it is not easy to reach those countries with dictatorships and act there given that they control it all.
I hope one day peace will come to our world with the help of organizations such as the UNO and the Human Rights in view of the fact that humans deserve to give up wars and call for peace. New generations should not pay for our actions.

To sum up, I would say that human rights should be respected everywhere and by everyone, seeing that this is one of the big problems our society has gone through.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Yours faithfully,
Anne Smith

RAPE AND MURDER OF DALIT WOMAN HIGHLIGHTS PERSISTENCE OF CASTE, GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

Link: http://www.amnestyusa.org/news/press-releases/rape-and-murder-of-dalit-woman-highlights-persistence-of-caste-gender-based-violence

A law student was found dead in her house the 28 of April. The autopsy found 38 wounds in the body, signs of rape and that her intestines had been partially removed. Three man had been retained for being suspected.
The police is accused by Amnesty International India because of their failures acting in front of violence cases against woman.
There were many other complains about this situation, as it wasn’t the first time the family was involved in harassing and threatening problems and ignored by the police.
"Dalit women face multiple levels of discrimination from the community and often from the police. The Kerala government must hold the police accountable for any inaction on their part,” said Rekha Raj."

It seems unbelievable that there is still sexual discrimination in some countries, because nowadays in India man are still above women. This news reflects what it means to be ignored, because it is said that the family have had some problems before with the neighbours, and others like threatening.
It is so sad to think about the difference of the conception of the woman in each part of the world. Humans are equal, not for being a male or a female you are better or worst, this isn’t the point. The best way to pass trough this may be starting to look women with some other eyes, not like they are the ones who have to stay at home just cleaning but being good doctors, policewomen and important businesswomen.

Vocabulary: wounds, submit, harass, threat

FREE TIME OR MONEY?

Well, maybe just reading the title anyone would say of course NO; but let’s analyse the benefits and the disadvantages.

First of all, talking about benefits, we should say the most important one (sadly) is the money. By working you earn some money and, everyone knows teenagers at eighteen years old spend money and not just a little bit, from going to parties to buying clothes, let’s say we need it so we don’t have to ask our parents for money and, what’s more, we don’t have to justify what we do with it. The second benefit I would like to highlight is that, by working, you get labour experience and that increases your contact with the society, and as a teenager everyone should know what means to work for eight hours and then have your money because, when you have it in your hand the first word that comes to your mind should be: it was worth it.

Secondly I will expose the disadvantages of working. Firstly we have to recognise that if we work, we can’t go to the beach as much as we would like to, we can’t go party as much as we would do, and all that sort of things. Working takes free time out of your calendar. Another disadvantage is, providing that probably most of your friends work by the time you do, if your timetables don’t happen to meet, you may not see each other for two months.

To sum up i should say I am on the position to say yes to work, because even if you haven’t that much of free time, you still have a little and, what’s more, you have money to pay your own things so you don’t have to ask your parents.

"LET'S GET READY FOR SUMMER"

Why do people do the, here called, “operación bikini”? Is it for themselves or for others? When a girl or a boy says, hey I’m going to get ready for summer, because I should loose some weight! Do they say it because they feel it, or because society makes them feel it?
Sincerely, I don’t think they really do it for themselves (I am included in all this). Society makes us think that we don’t like our body, because they make you compare yourself to others, to skinny girls and fit boys.

Most people don’t see it. Why? Because of the subliminal advertising. We are all day exposed to images of boys and girls half naked, but not any boy or girl; models. They are what’s considered perfection in a body in our society. We should ask ourselves: is that what we like?
Maybe sometimes you want to loose weight, or win weight; because there are the two extremes, because you want to feel good and comfortable with your body, not with others. This is the excuse of most people (including me). But we really don’t do it to feel comfortable with ourselves but in public, so with others. It really is sad, but society really gets into our minds and makes us feel we like what we maybe don’t do.

VICIOUS CIRCLE

Well, as you can tell we are in second of “Batxillerat” and next year we will be in university studying new things, with new people, new surroundings, etcetera.

However, studying means paying money, and providing that our parents would probably have to pay all we will spend, maybe it would be better to work on summer and earn some money.

Nowadays to work in places such as supermarkets, camping and restaurants near the beach requires knowing languages such as English, French, German or Dutch. We will have to stop here to think for a moment: do schools teach us many languages to use? The answer is YES. Sometimes we don’t really appreciate what schools are giving to the community by showing students how to say few things in many languages, but it’s really worth it (even if when we are in school we thing, OK, this is not even going to be useful for me ever...).

To speak an international language fluently means to have the chance to relate to more tourists and people and to have more chances to get a good job. But it’s not everything about the job and the money. It is also for the culture, because, by learning a new language you are getting yourself into a new culture and history; and this is amazing and, at the same time, so useful to travel and be able to communicate and meet new people and, by the time, get more chances of getting jobs.

Is it just me, or everything ends talking about money, and so to capitalism?

OKLAHOMA COURT: ORAL SEX IS NOT RAPE IF VICTIM IS UNCONSCIOUS FROM DRINKING

Link: http://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/apr/27/oral-sex-rape-ruling-tulsa-oklahoma-alcohol-consent

An Oklahoma court stated "law doesn’t criminalize oral sex with a victim who is completely unconscious".
Critics say the judicial system is engaged in victim-blaming.
This cased involved a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl. he volunteered to took her home after have been drinking in a party. It was clear the girl was badly intoxicated.
After the sexual assault examination DNA of the boy have been found in her legs and mouth, and the boy had been charged with forcible oral sodomy. The trial judge dismissed the case, and later on they affirmed that prosecutors could not apply the law to a victim who was incapacitated by alcohol.

I’ve chosen this news just because the title got me crazy. Does that means that if anyone intoxicates you with something like alcohol, in Oklahoma, can force you to do anything related to sex? This is ridiculous.
It is obvious that someone under the effects of alcohol is not able to defend him/herself, not even to think if what he/she is doing is right; but no one would rape or abuse of another person without wanting it. I say that because even if you are intoxicated, you don’t think to start taking advantage of people, this just happens to sick people that would do this even in normal mood.
To come back from a party with an intoxicated girl doesn’t not means that you have to take her seriously, as you are aware she’s under the effects of alcohol. When someone is in this state, what should be done is take him/her to the hospital to have medical care.

ABORTION

Abortion consists in “killing the project of a baby” who hasn’t been developed yet. People do that because of some different things like if there has been a raping, you haven’t enough money to keep it , you have sex with your boyfriend and it has been an accident… there are a lot of examples.

Some people thing that abortion should be illegal because you’re killing an organism that in the future will become a human, but I think completely the opposite. Some of the reasons that I have written before are the ones that make me thing that abortion has to be allowed. It’s true that some girls just don’t care about taking precautions while they are having sex, but then they act like victims to be able to have an abortion or they simply take the pill of the day after. In that case, I don’t think it is a good idea to abort, but in the other cases I do.

Moreover when a person gets raped and the girl (normally it’s a girl) gets pregnant, I would be absolutely permissive because it’s a child that isn’t wanted and I could understand it.

My opinion when you know that the baby has some kind of problem it’s that you would have to abort if you can’t afford it, because children like that have to go to special schools and that’s a big fortune for a person who doesn’t earn much each month.

However, when a teenage girl gets pregnant because she has had sexual relations with a boy using precautions, but they failed, it’s logical to abort.

Teenagers are too young to have children because the majority are not mature enough to bring them up and they have always to ask for help to their parents.

To sum up, I agree with abortion because each girl is free to do what she wants with her body and, from my point of view, it’s nobody’s business but hers.

SULI BREAKS- WHY I HATE SCHOOL BUT LOVE EDUCATION

The other day in class we listened to amind of a "rap" sung by a young man called Suli Breaks, talking, more likely complaining abaut education and it's sistem.

"(...) you know money is only the medium by which one mesures worldly success, some of you even have the nerve to say, I don't do it for the money, so what are you studying for?"

This may be the most interesting thing in the whole "rap". It really reflects what society is nowadays. Do we study for the money will we earn or because we love what we are doing?

Suli Breaks seems to see a smart man, he speaks words of wisdom. He says he's an educated man, which means he has already finished his studies, and he says to have realised that we learn things not to have more culture but for passing the exams we have. And this is all connected to the thing saied in the quote I have wrote, because why do we study? To have a job. Why do we want a job? to earn money. And why do we want to earn money? To spend it in things we probably don't even need.

What is said in this "speech" is that education must open our minds to let us think and act free, to show us how to face society and the problems we're going to have in our life.

Suli Breaks just wanted to show people education is a good way to learn but, maybe not the best one, as to experience is the best way to be taught.

"DEMONSTRATIONS CALL FOR A CHANGE"

Are demonstrations useful really? Are we wasting our time by going massively into places to show how we feel about changes? Many people would say: “yes, because the government doesn’t do anything about it most of the times”. My answer would be NO, we’re not wasting our time because we have the right to demonstrate, and governments don’t like it at all; because when demonstration appear on the TV, the World gets to know that that country isn’t doing well because their citizens aren’t happy with them, and that’s a little step to our aim: change the things in the country we don’t like. Also by demonstrating you are showing people the purpose is shared in a whole community, and few people may accept it and may be joining it.

Here in Catalonia we have had a demonstration once a year for many years. I’ve gone to two demonstrations, and to be honest being there with a group of people defending the same as you is so grateful, because you feel loved and safe and this is how every single person should feel in a their country: safe.

HUMAN RIGHTS

First of all, I ought to say human rights are the rights you deserve and have just for being a human. They were created in 1945 by the United Nations, in New York, and there are on a whole 30 of them.
We can tell human rights are being violated in our nowadays society, as, for example, there are many people that are actually slaved, which violates the article 4, some that are not allowed to get into new countires to live, as the article 13 clarifies, and sadly, a lot more.

Looking at all the 30 articles in the list, I've seen one that standed out, the article 18, freedom of Thought:

"Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."

This may not be in the human rights list, isn't it? Because it should be obvious that everyone has the right to think and believe in what they want. But the reason why may be there, is because some people disrespects others just for thinking diferent. No one has the same thought on everything. What about religions? There are many kinds, and each person believes in something because of culture, education, or just because it's what they like.
To think different makes you unique, that's why everyone should respect this right, because if everyone thought the same, believed in the same, said the same... Who would be special? Who would stand out and make the difference needed? Who would be the one inventing new thinks, writting new original books, making new unique films, and all that sort of things? No one, because everyone would be exactly the same. Yes WOULD BE. Because our thinkings, opinions and actions make us who we are.

This human right is violated in places with dictatorships, a good example could be North Korea, where anyone in the country can't do or think anything out of the wants of the dictator. For example, there is no freedom of religion, as religions that are not authorisized can't be taken.

JEALOUSY: LOVE'S DESTROYER

Jealousy is an emotion, and the word typically refers to the thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, concern, and anxiety over an anticipated loss or status of something of great personal value. This issues is a universal human experience. Moreover, psychologists have proposed several models and have identified factors that result in jealousy. The factors are:

1.            Sociobiological factors
2.            Cultural and historical factors
3.            Personality factors
4.            Relational factors
5.            Situational factors and strategic factors

A jealous behaviour, in man, is directed into avoiding sexual betrayal and a consequent waste of resources and effort in taking care of someone else’s offspring. This, in great part is made by the imagination Imagination is strongly affected by a person’s cultural milieu. Nevertheless, one author can have a definite positive effect on sexual function and sexual satisfaction.
Jealousy is normal and necessary in relationships. If you are in a monogamous relationship, jealousy serves as a way to let your partner know that you care about preserving your relationship. This confirms that your partner values tour commitment and would be upset to lose you. For this reason, we can say that jealousy is an expression of love is healthy. Furthermore, some couples may be ok with casually filtering outside of the relationship, while other couples may discover through their jealousy to another person. This item, can be an important emotion to pay attention to but can finish to the point of obsession. When it becomes an obsession, it can cause you to become possessive and paranoid. Nevertheless, some people use jealousy to support the fear that their relationship is in danger; this situation is caused by females.
We can say that jealousy is possibly the most destructive emotion in human brains. It causes much suffering. It also endure behaviour that ranges from vigilance to violence. They feel anxious, depressed, angry, humiliated, out of control and, sometimes suicidal
All human emotions exist to help us figure out who are in the world, and jealousy isn’t an exception. It’s a resource we call on when we feel at risk. When we are jealous, we are, in fact, in the grip of an identity crisis.
Jealousy gives rise to feelings of inferiority and resentment, activates pain related neural circuits in the brain, neuroimaging tudies show.
Evolutionary, jealousy exists because it is a good mate retention strategy; a partner’s jealousy can be seen as a sign of love. In one study, about 75%of people said they tried to make their partner jealous at one time or another. Moreover, this feeling is more often associated with arguments, breakups and aggressive behaviour and, we feel jealous we may question the level of commitment in our relationship.
One of the most important factors is how you express or respond to jealousy. These reactions say to the partner that they need more attention or show more affection.
Jealousy has been considered the guardian of love, but more often is love’s ruin. We usually blame our partner for paying attention to another people instead of ourselves, but the real issue may be what jealousy teaches us about ourselves.
An example of jealousy could be Elliott, Amanda’s boyfriend. She feels charmed and amused; at first she thought it may be just a love-struck, but it wasn’t. One day he gave her some flowers, and she realised it wasn’t to have a detail with her but kind of a camouflage. He needed to know where she was every moment, and if he didn’t hear what he liked, his voice cracked with race. This is how a romance starts feeling like a prison, and this is how you get to know when to break up.
Jealousy experts agree it is a survival mechanism. They say jealousy is “the most destructive of passions and the least studied”.
Richard Smith, a professor of psychology at the University of Kentucky says: “Jealousy is not the same as envy although they are often used interchangeably. Jealousy arises when a relationship is infringed on by a rival who threatens to take away something that is in a sense rightfully yours.” He also says that to have jealous you need not to have any sense of who that third party is like.
Jealousy is an extremely painful emotion. There are huge individual differences in the propensity for jealousy, and there is emerging evidence that elements of personality influence some of them.
No one can define jealousy perfectly. It may take much of its primary force from activating the attachment system of the brain, a genetically ingrained circuit that is the foundation of our social bonds and that prompts widespread distress when they are threatened.
According to University of Texas psychologist David Buss, jealousy is a necessary emotion, a potential deterrent to identify that arises in both men and women when a threat materialises to intimate relationships.

     1. SEXUAL JEALOUSY
Sexual jealousy may be triggered when a person’s significant other displays sexual interest in another person. Experts often believe that sexual jealousy is I a fact a biological imperative. They want the bet reproductive partners.
Sexual jealousy is the leading cause of spousal murder worldwide. It’s not really jealousy what we have to blame. Buss says “It’s the disillusion that a loved one has committed an infidelity when none has occurred”.
Buss sees jealousy as a necessary evil, it isn’t quite as inevitable as it’s been made to appear. In a study of nearly 1.000 people in various stages of commitment, he and a colleague in Spain find that the individual inclination to jealousy is strongly influenced by two of the so-called big five personality factors. It is passively associated to with neuroticism, or emotional instability, the liabilityto such unpleasant emotions as anger, anxiety and depression. The higher the level of instability, the more one is prone to jealousy.
Not all jealousy is activated by immediate threats of sexual infidelity. Neuroticism is not a very appealing attribute in a mate; it’s not a trait that’s necessary on full display when one enters into a relationship.

     2. ROMANTIC JEALOUSY
Psychologist Steven Stosny says “the formula to jealousy is an insecure person times an insecure relationship”. A person that is insecure it’s not just about sexually jealous but of any kind of friendship or even of a child; anything that takes attention off them.
French psychiatrist Marcianne Blevis says jealousy is not the guardian of love, but more typically its destroyer. Blevis says “we assume that jealousy is necessary evil, the collateral damage of love”. “All human emotions exist to help us figure out who we are in the world, and jealousy is no exception. It is a reassurance we call on when we feel at risk. When we are jealous, we are in fact in a grip of an identity crisis”
It’s a mistake to assume that jealousy always involves love, argues Aaron Bem-Ze’ev, a philosopher in Israel’s University of Haifa. “A man who despises his wife may nevertheless become jealous when someone else looks covetously at her. Here, the central feature is losing to a rival.”
People use jealousy as a signal to try to control their partners; they use it as a powerful tool to stand out. They substitute power for value. People try to calm their own emotions by controlling a partner. You’re dependent of your partner’s whims to feel OK, and that’s a set up for anger.

CAR RADIO - TWENTY ONE PILOTS

The song starts describing the situation of the man, sitting in his car realising someone stole his car radio. He uses this as a metaphor, as he says the following words: "and now I just sit in silence".

At first, this just seems to be a simple quote said to express what he is actually doing, but analysing the sentence (what, later on, is explained on the song), he says it’s not about sitting in silence, but feeling quiet inside of you, starting to think and just being aware of what’s going on.

He relates being in silence with facing his own problems, the ones he was trying to hide with the music filling his ears and thoughts, but; what about now, without music? Why do we hide ourselves behind of songs? Do we feel he lyrics inside of us as a way to feel better?

Facing problems is not an easy thing to do. That’s why I’ve chosen this song. Once, just going through YouTube I found it and I felt so identified with the lyrics, because when we are sad, nowadays, we just put our earphones on and press play to our favourite song or; depending on our mood, to a sad or happy song and start escaping our feelings.

In the middle of the song, there are some verses I would like to highlight:

"(...) Please stop thinking
I liked it better when my car had sound
There are things we can do
But from the things that work there are only two
And from the two that we choose to do
Peace will win
And fear will lose
There’s faith and there’s sleep
We need to pick one please because
Faith is to be awake
And to be awake is for us to think
And for us to think is to be alive
And I will try with every rhyme
To come across like I am dying
To let you know you need to try to think"

In this few sentences what he tries to explain is that the last we have to loose is faith, as it is all we have to be alive and show we are able to think and express our emotions and thoughts.

To sum up, I would like to say most of the songs of "twenty one pilots" have some beautiful and thoughtful letter that can be analysed and compared to our nowadays society. We need more artists like them, not just people wanting to earn money singing songs just with rhythm and without any meaning, and getting famous for it.

INDIA’S DAUGHTER: SINCE THE DELHI RAPE THINGS HAVE GOT WORSE

A documentary named Indian’s Daughter has been banned in India. The Indian government think that its content has to be banned because with this documentary people could think that all Indians have the same character and it isn’t like this. They are more worried about the international image of the country than of the women.
The documentary was made by a woman that was a rape survivor. This documentary has been criticised by the government and the women’s activists because of his content. The Indian government haven’t done much to save their women; even though they aren’t the only country that has that kind of problems.
That government wanted to ban this documentary because it could show that they didn’t do much for their women, the documentary showed the reality; they could put more security but they won’t. But instead of hiding the reality they would have to improve their security against woman.

I think the documentary should stay alive even though the Indian government didn’t want to, because people still know what is happening there. They would have to react and defend their people before all. At the end, if a news spreed it gets everywhere, even if they delete the documentary the most probable is that a lot of people will have seen it; and people have the right to know what's happening in other countries and what are they abusing of.

Family Travel Unplugged: More Options for Teenagers

The 21st century bane is seeing your children socializing virtually instead of enjoying vacation. According to parent’s frustrations, hotels and resorts had created a programme to promote real world interaction. These interactions consists in doing some activities in the mountain such as snowshoeing and other activities in the Anti-Gravity Centre; and in the resort such as going to the spa, a nightclub, etc.

Small group trekking adventures are a sure way to make children forget about their phones. Another adventures-group offers active teen trips to focus on culture.

I totally agree with the first statement in this news, because it’s totally true that social networks have children and teens addicted. The ways to entertain them that they have thought are really cool and imaginative, and I’m sure they’re going to work.

Actually I think it’s a bad idea to give a phone or a tablet to distract a little child, because the way they learn is not connecting with the world but with the network. It’s more usual in teens because they stop liking toys and all that stuff, so they talk to their friends with social networks, but this is not the way you spend vacation with family. Moments had to be enjoyed, and not seen through screens.

SLAVES?

This essay will be based in one simple, and so complicated at the same time, question I’ve read in our 2nd bat blog: Do you really want to be forever young?

Is this a simple thing to talk about? Because as a simple question nearly everyone would say: yes, of course! Who wouldn’t want it? But, what if I tell you that there is more than one way to understand this question? Yes, you can think of being immortal and never stop living. That could be cool, but what if you are the only one immortal person in the world? What about seeing your whole family dying, your friends; everyone around you? That doesn’t sound cool. Almost everyone would say no then, because, who wants to see their parents, sons, soulmates saying goodbye forever? No one.

Well, there’s another way to understand the question: being outside young forever. Yes, you will die, but until that day, you will look as if you were 20. Would anyone say no to that? Being pretty forever? Maybe not even looking as if you were 20, but pretty anyway. Who would say no really? Well, there’s the problem. Nearly everyone would like that, and the thing is that it is not a personal like or something punctual, it is something that big enterprises and all the people that lead the world had put in our minds.

They show us new cosmetics, make-up, clothes; artificial things to tell us how to look and how to do everything. The problem is that “being young forever” means to be imprisoned in a materialist world forever. Because in older ages, people didn’t need to look pretty all the time, maybe rich people did it but just because, as nowadays, they had the money to pay treatments and all that stuff, but it wasn’t really like it is now. Now, girls (it is more a girl than a man thing) have to look good anywhere they go and at any age.

Maybe the conclusion to all this is to escape the system and just do what you want, but… how do you know if it’s what you want and not what they want you to want? Everyone is a “victim” of the system, including myself; and if only a few people try to stand up to these injustices maybe a new world would start being created.

Nissan disables Leaf app after car hack risk revealed online

Nissan has suspended the functions of an app that could have been used to hack its Leaf electric cars. It has been revealed an attacker could run down the battery of a target's car and see data about its recent journeys. The security researcher who had found it believes the company should have taken the step earlier.

Mr Hunt discovered that anyone could control air conditioning systems of a Leaf because the car’s companion app was not configured to verify the owner’s identity; it only required the vehicle identification number, relatively easy to see.

Mr Hunt suggested that it would not threaten people’s lives, but after first telling Nissan about the problem he felt the company should have suspended the app at an earlier point. A day later, Nissan disabled the service.
"We're looking forward to launching updated versions of our apps very soon."

Seen: technology really provides problems. How could anyone think about hacking a car and taking energy off it? Because we know that computers, phones and stuff like this can be hacked but who could think about a car? The new world is providing us new big problems besides new tools.

Electric cars are cool talking about pollution, but maybe it’s so soon to try new things if we don’ even know how to control what we already have.

GET READY FOR LONDON!

Near the Safestay London Holland Park we can visit the Opera Holland Park, the Kyoto Garden, The Orangery, The Town Hall, the Kensington Palace, etc.
The hostel is approximately 1 hour and away from the Piccadilly circus. If you take the bus to go to the centre, it takes 35 minutes to arrive, because you have to walk to Kensington High St Earls Ct Rd to take the bus, get off the bus at Trafalgar Square and walk to London. By tube it can take from 22 to 41 minutes depending on which one do you take.

London Eye
The London Eye is one of the things I want to visit because it's a giant Ferris wheel. The structure is 443 feet (135 m) tall and the wheel has a diameter of 394 feet (120 m).It is Europe's tallest Ferris wheel and it offers the highest public viewing point in London.

Another thing I would love to visit is the Madame Tussauds London. It is a wax museum in London, founded by wax sculptor Marie Tussauds. It was known as Madame Tussaud’s, but the apostrophe is no longer used. This museum is one of the major tourist attractions in London.
Trafalgar Square

Then a really beautiful place in London is Trafalgar Square, a public square in Westminster, the centre of London. It is famous because its name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, a British naval victory in the Napoleonic Wars withFrance and Spain (21 October 1805).

The musicals I would like to see are Billy Elliot and The Lion King. The first one seems to be so interesting because it is about a boy who wants to dance and his beautiful story, it should be amazing to see it on a theatre. Then The Lion King is a story known by everyone and it is said that the performance is so good, so that's why I would like to see it. Both prices are above 50 pounds, so we're not going to see them because they are too expensive.
