NEWS ITEM 1: Jerome Jarre: The Making of a Vine Celebrity

Jerome Jarre is 24 year-old boy that grew up in Albertville, France, just with his mother. He went to Chine and Toronto for business but he failed. Then he went to New York and discovered an app named Vine. He started making vines because it makes him happy and because he thought that it could be a way to make people smile. When he went to New York he had a basic level of English he had learned with an audiobook he listened to.

At first he wasn’t so famous but as the time went by he gained more and more followers. An ad agency offered him one million dollars to help them with an advertisement but he said no, he didn’t wanted to be under nobody’s orders.

When he walked by a public place teenagers stopped him to take selfies with him. Mr Jarre calls his fans “friends” because he thinks the term “fans” sounds too hierarchical.

Jerome transmits happiness to his fans and he also transmits the spirit to do what you want when you want. He says that everyone should have a purpose in life, and when a journalist asked him which was his purpose, a teenage girl ran up to him and then he said: “My purpose is helping people find their purpose.”

I think Jerome has a special way to see the world and it’s amazing to see that one single person can get across to people so easily. He understands people’s minds in a way nobody does and that makes him special. The thing is that he arrived there in New York with nothing and increased himself, it’s simply amazing.

VOCABULARY : stunt, hierarchical, snowbaled, hiatus.

FILM REVIEW: EXPELLED

The name of the film is Expelled and it’s an American film.

It’s a teenage film about the story of a bad boy mixed with a little love story and it’s a great movie to see with your friends.

This film is about a boy who is expelled from high school and he didn’t tell his mother. Then he start to act like a “bad boy” and his brother recues him from the jail, where he has been sent in consequence of his multiple troubles. Then he fell in love with a girl.

I liked the plot because it’s related to teenagers and it reminds me to the actual teenagers and their behaviour. The love story was so short but enough to understand the film. The costumes were good and actual and great.

I didn’t like the way they made the film because if the story have developed more the characters, it would have been better. The actors were so young and a little bit inexperienced and that made it a little bit bored.

TRAILER:

I will recommend it to people who like films but it isn’t an amazing film, it was OK, not bad.

CREDIT CARDS

Credit cards were invented so that people didn’t have to carry their money around. At the beginning it was an exclusive thing, but nowadays nearly everyone have a credit card.

This card is a great element because people can have it in the wallet instead of an amount of money. It’s easy to use, because you put it in a machine, that is private, and that’s all. You don’t have to give them money but put use the credit card and pay exactly the price.

In my opinion credit cards are a good invention, but when you buy with them you spend an amount of money that you don’t control much. That happens because you don’t see how much you spend, and that’s a problem because then you see the amount you have spent and…you are surprised.

Even though you don’t know what you spent its more comfortable to carry it. Nowadays you can personalize tor credit card as you want, even if you want to put a photo on it.

A lot of people have many cards, sometimes because of business; but that’s because if you have many cards you can spend so much money (normally) because you have it at your reach.

EXPLOITATION OF CHILDREN

For a long time children have been used to work hard, in such so bad conditions and with a miserable salary. That’s because, back in time, families were large in number and if only the parents worked, they couldn’t fed all the people in the family. The children started to work to bring money home to have the chance to buy food.

It sounds incredible but that still happens nowadays in some under developed countries. That’s so unfair because people have to play, run… or go to school if they have the opportunity.

When people make abuse of children it’s because some families just need to have children working or who knows where just to bring money home, like before. I am totally against the exploitation. Children don’t deserve that type of treatment and madness at a very young age.
Children should enjoy the moments and have fun with each other because that’s what it means to be young. There’s no need to exploit anybody, if people were fairer with others, all this kind of bad actions would disappear.
